As I look back through my old pictures I realize how much Geneva has changed since I first got here the first week of September. The colors have changed, the decorations, the temperatures. But, after a long weekend of traveling I'm still so happy to be "home" in my small studio. You would think that after this long I'd have totally adjusted to living here, but I have to admit that I haven't, and probably won't.
There are still a lot of things that are difficult to get used to. Not having other Americans to relate to or having friends from Iowa or the Midwest even is hard. People don't understand why I have issues with paying 20 francs to get into a club and then 10 francs for every drink. Hello, Breda Golf drinks are $2.75. For every small thing that is different about this place I have two or three good things that I will always remember about Geneva.
I love the high-class and luxurious feeling of the city. Even though I can't afford to shop on Rue du Rhone, I think it puts you in a positive mindset and the visualization of goals makes them more likely to come true, right?!
I also love the feeling of Old Town and wandering through the tiny streets trying to imagine what life was like.
I'll write more about the things I'll miss most about Geneva in a month or so when I'm ready to leave for good. :(
Taking the early morning taxi boats from Paquis to Old Town is one of my favorite things.
