Taylor Swift's song "Today Was a Fairytale" is stuck in my head. Wandering around the ancient city of Annecy, France put me in a medieval mood. There were castles, tiny cobblestone walkways and water canals everywhere that happened to look like moats.
Myself and five of my friends hopped on a charter bus from Geneva to Annecy, France this morning. Annecy is not far from Geneva, only about 45 kilometers, by bus, it took about two hours. Time goes quickly when you're cruising through the Swiss/French countryside. At 31 francs for a roundtrip, it's hard to pass up a day trip like this.
You could just tell that the little town is absolutely ancient because it was filled with cobblestone streets, tiny walkways, French houses with flower boxes on every window, and the most amazingly blue, clear lake I've ever seen surrounded by mountains. There were people everywhere and vendors selling paintings, silverware, glassware, old records, new clothing and old clothing. You could literally find anything here you could ever dream of having.
Getting back to the lake part...this will literally take your breath away. It was so absolutely perfect. There were places (I'm not sure how many feet deep it was) where you could see straight to the bottom. Perfection! Take a look :)
(I did not destroy any of these photos with a filter, are you kidding me?!)
We started to walk along the path that went around the lake and were trying to decide if we should grab a place to sit on the grass and just chill or look for a dock that would get us closer to the water. Then, this lady in a swim suit started speaking to us in English about a boat rental and going on and on about how we can pay with a credit card and you don't need a boaters license, blah blah blah...go away lady...like when you're walking through the mall and the guys working for the dead sea lotion company are trying to grab your hands so you can try this AMAZING product. Or asking you if your fingernails are real. That drives me crazy! Anyways...
We actually gave her like two seconds of attention and were all like "that's actually a pretty good deal, 70 euros for 1 hour, divided between 6 of us, not bad...and that turned into this.....------->>>>>>>>
One good idea leads to another, which led to us jumping into the water! It's hard to imagine, and photos just don't do this place justice. It is literally picture perfect.
Once again....not filtered or edited in any way at all. omg.
Also, can't forget about pizza. Hello, cheat day. All normal dietary rules went out the window today. I don't feel bad about it at all. This is honestly the first time I've eaten out since being abroad. Geneva is so extremely expensive when it comes to restaurants. Kebab restaurants are affordable, and all.over.the.place, but honestly from what I've seen and smelled from them, you're better off at McDonalds. No thanks.
I'd give this pizza a solid 8.5 out of 10. The price was good, it tasted amazing, and we sat outside because it was a beautiful day.
Goodnight from Geneva, I really hope your everyday is a fairytale. :) ...so inspirational.
